Craig Day 11
I was thinking about a couple of things...
1. Caloric Deficit: The simple formula, if you use more calories than you consume, you will lose weight.
2. Ketosis: If you can convert your primary metabolic pathway to one that prefers fat as primary (vs. carbohydrates) as an energy source, AND you are in caloric deficit, then you will burn fat.
To get into ketosis, you need to shift your macronutrient ratio in favor of fat. The 3 macronutrients are fat, carbs, protien. Typical Zone Diet (see work by Dr. Barry Sears) I think says 40% P, 30% F, 30% C. Shift that to putting Fat at the top... say.. 40% (and ONLY good fats, high in omega 3's, like Avocados, coconut oil used for cooking, olives, etc.) and you will see it melt off.
I'm 46 years old, I work out, but not crazy.. average 30 mins/day.. and I can see my abs! The reason is ketosis, I think...
Last night, being Friday, I really wanted some wine with dinner, but I resisted. I did cheat, I'll admit (This is accountability, right?) I put some parmesan on my pasta. Pasta you say? Yes, the noodles are from spaghetti squash, they are veggie noodles. This is the only kind of pasta Chelle and I eat (the kids turn white as a ghost when we try to get them to do it, but they do it sometimes). Try it, it's awesome. Recipes are online everywhere I'm sure.
The reason I allowed paremesan... is that it is a hard cheese, I already consume very little dairy, it tastes way better, but really... I WAS WEAK!
Besides that, I was compliant outside of my small bite of dark chocolate after a meal, which is healthy.. but still giving in to brain addictive signaling. So I was 93% compliant. Sorry to let you guys down. Just telling the truth here. I'll try to be strict today.

Ketosis is a great topic. I'm researching it and am certainly interested.
